Every PourEpoxy installation follows the same disciplined process — from first assessment to final handover. No shortcuts. No exceptions.
We begin every project with a site visit. We review how the floor is used — traffic type, chemical exposure, temperature range, wet or dry environment — and assess the existing substrate condition. This determines the correct system specification and allows us to provide an accurate price. We do not quote off a floor plan alone; the substrate tells us what we're working with.
All existing coatings, contamination and weak surface layers are removed. The concrete is mechanically prepared — typically by diamond grinding or shot blasting — to achieve the correct surface profile for adhesion. Cracks, joints and spalled areas are repaired with appropriate repair mortars. Moisture levels are tested and, where necessary, a moisture-tolerant primer is applied before the main system. No resin system is applied until the substrate passes our preparation standard.
Based on the site assessment and the client's requirements, the correct system is confirmed. This covers product selection, number of coats, application thickness, aggregate broadcast if required, and any specific requirements such as anti-slip specification, chemical resistance grade or colour. The full specification is confirmed in writing before work begins.
The prepared substrate is primed with the appropriate primer for the system and substrate conditions. Correct primer selection is critical — it creates the bond between the substrate and the resin system, ensures adhesion, and prevents outgassing from the concrete that can cause surface defects. Primer application and coverage rates are applied to manufacturer specification.
The specified resin system is applied in controlled stages — base coat, intermediate coat, and topcoat as required. Each layer is applied to the correct thickness using appropriate tools for the system type. For broadcast systems, aggregate is applied into the wet coat and excess removed before the next layer. Mixing ratios, pot life and application temperatures are monitored throughout. Working area conditions including temperature and humidity are checked before and during application.
Once the system is applied, the floor requires a cure period before it can be returned to service. We provide the client with written cure times, foot traffic and vehicle traffic timelines, and guidance on the first cleaning. Maintenance recommendations — cleaning products to use and avoid, and how to handle minor damage — are provided at handover. We remain available for any post-installation questions.
